Islamic University, Apr 13 (UNB) - Islamic University in Kushtia will usher in the Bengali New Year on Pahela Boishakh Sunday by commencing a three-day Boishakhi Fair.
The fair will continued till Tuesday, according to the IU Public Relations Office (PRO).
The university will organize its own Mangal Shobhajatra, with teachers, students, officials and staff of the university bringing out the procession from in front of the university’s administration building shortly after sunrise on Pahela Boishakh, the very first day of the Bengali calendar.
After marching through the main streets of the campus, it will end at the IU Bangla Moncha, according to M Ataul Haque, the head of the PRO.
Following the procession, IU vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari will inaugurate the fair as the chief guest. Pro-vice-chancellor Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, treasurer Professor M Selim Toha and acting registrar SM Abdul Latif are expected to join him.
After that a cultural programme will be held with the participation of the teachers and students of different departments of the university.
A total of 150 stalls have been erected for the fair, Ataul added.
