Dhaka, Jan 13 (UNB) - Law Minister Anisul Haq on Sunday said the government has initiated a process to bring back BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, now staying in the UK.
The government is very active to ensure punishment of the fugitive accused through bringing them back home, said the minister while talking to reporters after inaugurating a training course of assistant judges at city’s Judicial Administration Training Institute.
The government will soon take an initiative to put the cases filed over crimes against humanity on the cause list of the Appellate Division, he said.
Anisul asked the judges to motivate people for settling minor disputes out of courts to reduce the pressure on the overloaded judiciary.
“The role of judges is very important in establishing the rule of law in the country. The role of quality judiciary is indispensible for economic development, strengthening democracy and reducing poverty. The government is extending all kinds of support to present a quality judiciary to people”, he said.
Managing Director of the institute Khondker Musa Khaled presided over the programme.
